How We Write and What We Stand Behind

Every article on this site is held to the same standard: accurate, specific, and honest about what we know and what we don’t. This page explains how that works in practice.

Accuracy

Claims on this site are based on one of three things: direct experience, published research, or documented community knowledge from the bird feeding community. We do not publish claims we cannot support.

When a claim comes from external research or a specific source, it is cited and linked. When it comes from direct experience or observation, that is stated explicitly. When something is uncertain or varies by situation, that is said plainly rather than presented as a universal rule.

We do not fabricate statistics, invent expert quotes, or copy advice from other sites to pad word count.

Updates and Corrections

Bird feeding research and product availability change. Articles are reviewed and updated when new information becomes available or when a reader identifies something that is outdated or incorrect.

Corrections are made promptly. Significant factual corrections are noted within the article so readers who have previously read it know something has changed. Minor corrections such as broken links or outdated product references are fixed without notation.

To report a correction, use the email on the Contact page. Include the article URL and the specific claim in question.

Scope and Focus

This site covers one topic: backyard wild bird feeding in North America. Every article is written to serve someone who is actively trying to feed birds in their yard. We do not publish content outside this scope to chase search traffic or fill out a content calendar.

Articles are not written to rank for keywords. They are written because the topic is genuinely useful to someone trying to solve a real problem. If a topic does not meet that standard, it does not get covered here.

Editorial Independence

Product recommendations on this site are based on research, direct experience, and documented community feedback. Affiliate relationships do not influence which products are recommended or how they are described.

When a product is recommended, it is because it fits the situation being described. When a product has known limitations, those are stated. We do not recommend products we would not use ourselves or could not stand behind.

For full disclosure of affiliate relationships, see the Affiliate Disclosure.

Authorship

All content on this site is written by Blake Foster. No content is AI-generated or outsourced. Where external sources are quoted or referenced, they are attributed correctly and linked to the original.

For background on the author’s qualifications and experience, see the Author page.

Publication Dates

Each article shows the date it was originally published and the date it was last updated. If an article has not been updated since publication, only the original date is shown. Dates reflect when the content was meaningfully changed, not when minor formatting or link corrections were made.
